The city of Rio de Janeiro in Brazil is one of the most beautiful places to visit. There are many things to do and see here so it's a good idea for you to plan your trip ahead of time. The beaches, mountains, food and people will make your stay unforgettable. The city of Rio de Janeiro is one of the most vibrant and alive cities in the world. It has a rich history, stunning beaches, delicious food, and an exciting nightlife. One can not go to Rio without exploring some of its many landmarks like Sugarloaf Mountain or Christ The Redeemer statue.  In this blog post we will be sharing with you our favorite places to visit while in Rio!

-The Sugar Loaf Mountain: This mountain is one of the best viewpoints in Brazil as it gives visitors a 360 degree view of all that Rio has to offer from their peak at 710 meters high.  -Corcovado/Christ The Redeemer Statue: This statue towers over all other buildings at 853 feet.

Cristo Redentor

Cristo Redentor, which is Portuguese for Christ the Redeemer, is a Brazilian landmark. It was inaugurated in 1931 and its stands at 38 meters tall very beautiful view. Its arms stretch out to 31 meters long. The site of this monument has been revered by Brazilians since it's construction. The statue can be seen from various views points around Rio de Janeiro including Pedra do Leme, Morro da Urca and Pão de Açúcar (Sugar loaf mountain).

Cristo Redentor is one of the most sweet and pretty recognizable landmarks in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. Located at the peak of Corcovado Mountain, this giant statue overlooks the city and provides a clear view for miles. The monument was constructed from 1922-1931 to honor Jesus Christ with its towering height of 38 meters (125 ft). It has become an iconic symbol for not only Brazil but also tourists around the world who travel there to see it up close. What many people don't know is that Cristo Redentor was built by a French artist named Paul Landowski and funded by Brazilian sources such as coffee barons and politicians.

Sugarloaf Mountain is the landmark of Rio de Janeiro's North Zone and stands at 812 meters above sea level. The peak offers views over the city, with Corcovado (the famous statue of Christ), Pão de Açúcar (Sugar Loaf Mountain), Jardim Botânico (Botanical Garden) and Guanabara Bay on one side and Rio's downtown, Copacabana Beach, Ipanema beach, Leblon beach...etc on the other side    . Sugarloaf Mountain is one of the most well known mountains in Rio de Janeiro. It's not only a favorite for tourists, but also for locals who enjoy hiking it with their friends and family. This mountain has been around since at least 1882, and was once used to house mining equipment. Today people can still see remnants from this time period such as the old train tracks that are now overgrown on top of Sugar Loaf.

The hike up to Sugarloaf is tough, but you won't regret the view when you're standing on top looking down into Rio's famous beaches. You'll be able to spot landmarks like Copacabana Beach near Ipanema beach if you look closely enough.

Tijuca National Park

Tijuca National Park is a national park in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. It has an area of about 759 square kilometers and includes several mountains such as the Pedra da Gávea, the Dois Irmãos, and São Pedro. The park was created by decree on June 24th 1876 to protect its forest from being cut down for charcoal production. With over 2 million visitors each year it is one of the most popular attractions in Rio de Janeiro.    Tijuca National Park offers many activities including hiking trails, camping grounds, waterfalls (Catarinense waterfall), lakes (Lagoa Azul), swimming pools (Piscina do Lago Azur) and birdwatching opportunities with more.

Tijuca National Park is a Brazilian national park with an area of 16,900 hectares. The park was founded in 1944 and it was the first National Park of Brazil. It is located in the Tijuca Forest, west from Rio de Janeiro city center. The forest includes highland fields and mountain peaks which are part of the Atlantic Forest biome habitat for many species of plants and animals - such as monkeys, sloths, anteaters, foxes and spider monkeys- several endangered bird species like Curassow (Crax rubra), Scarlet Macaw (Ara macao) or Yellow-headed Parrot (Ognorhynchus icterotis).

Maracanã

Maracanã is a stadium that was built in Brazil. It's the largest stadium in the world and it can hold up to 199,000 people! The first match played at Maracana Stadium was on July 16, 1950 when Rio de Janeiro beat São Paulo 3-1.
